Hydrotherapy

Transform your rehabilitation journey through our inclusive hydrotherapy services. At Inclusive Movement Physiotherapy, your well-being is our priority, and together, we will make progress that lasts a lifetime.

What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy, is a special form of physiotherapy which utilises  the buoyancy, resistance, and temperature of water to enhance rehabilitation. It is a natural, and non-invasive therapy that can benefit children and adults living with a range of neurological conditions, and of different fitness levels.

At Inclusive Movement Physiotherapy, our hydrotherapy services cater for every individual's needs, and our services focus on achieving your goals in a safe, and fun environment. Our hydrotherapy services are provided in selected community pools across the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western areas of Adelaide. â€‹

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

The natural therapeutic properties of water provide a wide range of physical and psychological benefits including:

  • Increased muscle strength and endurance - Water provides constant resistance to our bodies when we move through it.

  • Stress Relief - Immersion in warm water and the soothing nature of hydrotherapy sessions can reduce stress, anxiety, and promote relaxation, benefiting both mental and emotional health.

  • Accelerated Recovery from Injuries - Hydrotherapy is often used in rehabilitation programs to speed up recovery from injuries, surgeries, or trauma related events by promoting gentle movement and muscle conditioning.

  • Improved Circulation - The buoyancy of water reduces body weight, easing pressure on joints and enhancing blood flow, which can aid in healing and reduce swelling.

  • Improves balance and reduces likelihood of falling - Hydrotherapy requires the body to continuously adjust and stabilise to maintain balance.

  • Improved gross motor skills - Hydrotherapy is a great way for adult and children to learn age-appropriate skills in a fun environment.
